Child Maintenance

Hi
Just after some quick advice.

Ive been separated nearly 2 years . I have 3 children and my ex pays me £800....per month. He is in a 70k pa job.

My childminding fees and school dinner money fees total nearly £400 per month...

Is this cost included in what he pays me or should it be separate.?

If this is what is shown as the right payment on the CSA website, thats all he would have to pay, did you get settlement/house etc?
  • Yes, the financial side was sorted between us but his payment is halved once i shell out on fees for me being able to work but have childminding in place.

I'm struggling to understand why you think this isn't right? Should he fork out for the car to get you to work as well?

If the £800 is the right amount under CSA's calculator then there is no more.

if he pays child support then, unless you and he agree something different, he doesn't have to pay anything else on top.

If you think he is paying less than he should you can review the figures - try the maintenance calculator https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-child-maintenance

Do you qualify for child tax credits / working tax credits / help with childcare costs through tax credits?
  • £800 seems very low on his wage. Are you claiming taxcredits and child benefit.
  • I claim child benefit only

Can I get help with childcare costs?..

It's the correct CSA amount for 3 children give or take a few £ depending on how much he contributes to his pension.
