Hi all,
Ive been keeping track on my credit rating for years now and in the last 6 years i have not had a single bit of bad credit
My rating on equifax was about 488 and set as 'excellant'
Now i set up a barclaycard account and forgot to set up a direct debit so my bill wasnt paid i rang up immediatly, paid it and set up the direct debit as soon as i got the email saying ive missed a payment
Just recently i checked my credit again and it is now 322 'poor' with a RED bad payment in last month 'missed payment defaulted'
Is there absolutely anything i can do about this as ive had loads of car loans, loans.. Credit cards etc etc which have all been paid perfectly and now because of this one mess up im 'poor'
Wouldnt bornally bother me too much as id have more credit and sort it out but im of for a mortgage very shortly and really dont want to get a crap rate because of this
Just seems my 6 years hard work keeping an amazing credit history has gone down the drain because of one mistake that was then paid straight away.... :-/
Cheers if anyone has any advice or info appreciate it!

The credit scores are not seen by any major lender, its snake oil they sell you to generate revenue
Realistically there is nothing you can do about the mark that is on there as it is accurate but once you have a couple of payments showing as on time afterwards its impact will be much lower0 -
Thanks alot so in a month or two once my phone bill, car loan, insurance come out my score should slowly start to creap up! Guttered all that effort lol and so what do banks not see them when i go for mortgage?0

I think you're missing the point. Your score can creep up, down, sideways or dance the fandango. It doesn't matter.
Lenders look at the history of your credit file - ie the facts, rather than a magic number. It's up to them how they interpret it.0 -
It is worth speaking to BC and seeing if they would agree to remove the missed payment marker as a gesture of goodwill (grovelling and apologising about forgetting to set up the DD). Small chance, but worth trying given you will be applying for a mortgage soon.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
