My sons partner has an unspent criminal conviction he hasn't and we can't find a reasonable quote for his house. Been to Home Protect but it was very expensive. Any suggestions please.

Bureau Insurance may be worth a try, they do a specialist scheme for convictions - Bureau Insurance
(not a recommendation, just a scheme I've seen before)0 -
Cant you do the policy in your sons name only?
Im sure the company I use just asks if the applicant has had any criminal convictions, nothing about anyone else living in the property... I could be wrong though.
What about trying a local insurance broker?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi,
You do have to declare if any member of the household has a criminal conviction. Having said that, the conviction would have to have relevance as to whether the Insurer applied special terms. If it involved theft or dishonesty that would be relevant but eg. a Drink Driving conviction is not relevant to a household policy.0 -

You need to answer the question that is asked, and not assume what is and isn't relevant to the insurer.0 -

If you ring up, at least with Halifax when I renewed mine, they changed the question from the online 'any convictions' to any non-driving related convictions, if that helps.0 -

I am pretty sure you are wrong. Time to double check and then have a good think about any dodgy looking characters you've sold cover to.0
