Audit - footprint on credit file

Just looking for a little advice,

Looking at my husband’s credit file and he has a financial link with his father, my husband has never knowingly applied for any sort of credit with him and they have lived separately for over 8 years now.

We’ve now seen that there are some searches named as “Audit” it states no company name but they have performed this Audit on both my husband and his father at both our current address and an address that my fathering law lived at 4 years ago, he gave this property up for voluntary repossession, with a sort fall of 23k which he has no means of making any payment against.

Does anyone have any experience of these Audits and what they mean, we’ve tried speaking to my fathering law about this and he just states he can’t remember if he ever put my husband’s name down on any applications he made.

Its concerning me quite a bit to be honest were looking at moving and will be going through the mortgage process very soon and I don’t want anything to bite us on the b*m.

thanks in advance

Has your husband now filed a notice of disassociation with the 3 credit reference agencies? if not he needs to do that now (before you start applying for mortgages).

The audit credit checks won't be visible to a potential lender, so on that basis I wouldn't worry about those.

  • He has but it seems to be taking a long time for them to action it, he did it about a month ago when we first looked at them, he had an association but we could see where from, but the searches are recent last few weeks.

So it nothing to worry about that there searching my fathering law at my address somewhere he has never lived,?I don't trust him and I've recently found out he's bee letting himself in my house while we are at work.

Once there is no financial connection then anything he does won't affect your husband's ability to get credit.

That is unless he applied for credit in your husband's name and intercepted the post - if your husband feels that is a risk then I would consider paying for CIFAS protective registration - £14 for a year I believe (which makes it harder for people to fraudulently take out credit in your name) and change your house locks.
