Scottish Power
I sold my house in March this year. On the day of the sale I phoned in the meter reading and told Scottish Power to close the account. The new owner moved in the same day and arranged change of address with their own supplier.
Scottish Power advised they had closed the account and they paid me the outstanding credit balance some days later.
I did not leave forwarding address as the mail for my old address was being redirected for the rest of this year.
I have heard nothing from Scottish Power until today when Past Due Credit Solutions 'acting on behalf of Scottish Power Retail Ltd.' have contacted me at my new address (I am with a new supplier) demanded I pay an outstanding balance of £1073.17 for the property I moved out of as above.
Can anyone advise what I should do about this?

Sounds like another SP ballsup.
Have you still got the final SP bill with final meter reading you gave them?
Have you contacted SP to dispute the debt?0 -

I'm having a few problems with Scottish Power also, I've tried the nice emails, demanding emails and have just started the complaints procedure, although its been 5 working days and no reply yet.
Does anyone know how to push them along ?
I changed to EDF in early Sept but Scottish power still took D/D for Sept & Oct even after telling them, now they say they haven't had Sept D/D payment, they still haven't closed my electric account & I can't get a final bill for the Gas.
I've phone on 2 occasions and you can literally here the customer service guys scratching there heads to figure out what the problem is, I think the guy last week gave up, after about 30 mins chatting he needed to speak to a supervisor and never came back.0
