clarify luggage details

I read few sites, which say more or less same thing, but the general gist is that you can take most items in the hold luggage, but in hand luggage theres confusion.

I have read most liquids have to be less than 100ml volume and then kept in a resealable plastic bag, max 20x20cm.
Passengers will be allowed to take liquids, gels and pastes of 100mls or less in their hand baggage. These items must be contained within a small, transparent re-sealable plastic bag, which will have to be removed from their hand baggage and x-rayed separately.
To save time please come prepared with your own correct sized plastic bag, however plastic bags are available, if you forget to bring your own.
The new rules stipulate that the plastic bag must not exceed one litre capacity per passenger - that’s around half the size of a standard A4 piece of paper and it must be sealable. The bag can contain two or more items of less than 100mls/100g each but must not be cluttered to allow security officers to carry out thorough checks.

So you can take a bottle of soda 100ml bottle with you from home?

Yes, as long as it's in your re-sealable plastic bag
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

Don't mix your millilitres up with centilitres.

I'd be surprised if you can obtain a 100ml bottle of soda. That's about one or two month fulls.

To give you an idea of size and volume of a soda tin. The very small sodas given (or sold) on airlines, or as mixers, are 150ml.

not sure where the confusion is.

ALL liquids must be in bottles of 100ml or less and in a clear reasealable bag, includes toothpaste and deodarants.

I think you are only allowed a max of 10 bottles in one bag.

Why would you want to take a bottle of soda with 100ml in it.

I usually take an empty bottle (500ml) and fill with water after security

deodorants? You mean like those veyr small ones, cos the lynx ones are over 100ml cans. Toothpaste, i suppose you could just stick into hold luggage. then only important liquids need screening in hand luggage.

good idea, but is there drinking water or you get from bathroom?

I heard the airport water is really expensive. Yeah i guess its hard to find a 100ml soda bottle, but one could measure 100ml of say vimto into a bigger bottle, then after security dilute it with water and you have nice drink, that would work right? Unless the bigger bottle did not fit into the 20x20cm plastic bag?

    Couple of quick points.

The lynx compressed body sprays/deoderants are 100ml.

your reference to a bigger botte not fitting into a plastic bag is irrelvant as long as the bottle is empty you can take any size bottle airside.

I might be wrong about this but I thought that you couldn't take bottles bigger than 100ml but only partly filled.

e.g. 100 ml bottle full of Vimto is fine but a 500ml bottle with 100ml of Vimto is not.

you're quite right as if a 500ml bottle contained 100ml how would they know its only 100ml?

however if you had 100ml of vimto in a seperate 100ml bottle theres nothing stopping you taking an empty vimto bottle airside, regardless of size

If you have hold luggage you could put it all in there,I assumed you only had hand luggage (lots do these days)

There are usually drinking fountains after security

As has already been said no you cant put 100ml in a 500ml bottle, but you can take an empty 500ml (or any size) bottle through
