leaving work and tax credits

i started work in may 2007 and i am now leaving on sunday this week (as it is not doing my health problems any good).
when i tell tax credits i realize it will alter next years payments april 2008 - march 2009 but what about this years ??

it says on my award notice if your income goes down this year you might get extra tax credits and we will amend your award immediatly, will this not apply to me as i was not working last year so this income is not included in this years payments ??

any one got any idea`s ???
thanks for any help in advance ! ! !

I think that means if your income goes down but you are still working. Not if you quit completely.

    I could be wrong though.

have you phoned the tax credits?
would phone them an inform them anyway as if you dont next years award will be based on this years income.
i have always informed them of chnages, i think if you do now rather than waiting till next year they will re-calcuklate for this year, but i'm not 100% sure.
