Hoover damaging vinyl flooring

About 5 years ago we had vinyl lino flooring from Carpet Right installed in our apartment, we hoovered this on a regular basis with no issues.

We moved into a house and last week had very similar flooring installed and fitted, we hoovered in there last night and where the hoover was sat for about 5 seconds whilst switching it off the hoover rollers have ripped up the top layer of the laminate leaving a long nasty mark. This is the same hoover as before.

We have enough vinyl left to replace it, but now are going to be stumped with additional installation costs and are worried about how naff quality it is.

Has anybody had this happen before and should it have happened? What kind of recourse do you think would be available, or is it completely our fault?

Thanks,

Gavin

  • Recourse, who are you wanting to blame?

It's happened to me, rotating brushes in vacuum cleaners can, and often do damage vinyl floor coverings. Some vinyls are softer than others.
