Cityjet Hand luggage

Hi, I'm flying with Cityjet from London City next week and I need to take my laptop with me, but I would like to take it on the laptop bag and this doesnt fit on my suitcase. The website doesn't list laptops as additional items allowed but my guess is most people take them as it's a business airport.
Anyone that flies with them can confirm if I can take the laptop?
Thanks

TBH, they seem pretty clear about one piece of hand luggage:
https://www.cityjet.com/flying-with-us/before-you-fly/hand-luggage/
I would not rely on guessing what they allow at all.For the comfort and safety of all passengers we must restrict cabin baggage to one piece per passenger. Additional small items such as cameras, personal stereos, overcoats or handbags may be carried.
Cabin baggage will be labelled at check-in and must weigh under 12kgs in total.
This allowance is subject to restrictions and conditional on operational constraints on the day of travel, it may be necessary to place cabin baggage in the aircraft hold.
Cabin / Hand baggage must be small enough to fit in an overhead bin or under your seat. Cabin baggage that exceeds the dimensions and maximum weight allowed or will not fit under the seat or in an overhead compartment will not be accepted in the passenger cabin and must be carried in the aircraft hold as checked baggage.
The dimensions for the acceptance on cabin baggage are not more than 115cm in size. (Combination of length + width + height). Wheels and handles must be included in the total dimensions. The size indicated.
I'd stick to what it says on the website and take ONE piece.
And even if someone posts to say they did take ONE bag plus a laptop, that doesn't mean that you will get away with it.0 -
Thanks Pollycat, but it's not ONE piece when they allow another one:
"Additional small items such as cameras, personal stereos, overcoats or handbags may be carried"
And the description is "such as", so it implies other items will also be allowed...
I don't think it's clear at all, that's why I'm asking.0 -
Would you class your laptop as 'small'?Alisha2008 wrote: »"Additional small items such as cameras, personal stereos, overcoats or handbags may be carried"Alisha2008 wrote: »And the description is "such as", so it implies other items will also be allowed...
I don't think it's clear at all, that's why I'm asking.
Personally, I would have thought that if a laptop were allowed in addition to the ONE piece, it would have been included in that list as an example.
I think you are only going to get a definitive answer from the airline themselves.
Specifically talking about hand-luggage, I personally would not rely on anything I was told on a public forum.0 -
I asked on other forums and got this:
http://www.cityjet.com/manage-your-booking/whats-my-checked-in-baggage-allowance/
it clearly allows a laptop.. so there seems to be contradictory information on their website.0 -
I'm confused (with Cityjet website).
The link I posted (found by Googling) is different to the link you've given.
As you say, your link clearly says 'one bag plus laptop', my link says 'one piece per passenger. Additional small items such as cameras, personal stereos, overcoats or handbags may be carried'.
Your link takes you to 'manage your booking', my link is from 'Useful info'.
I would be inclined to email them and point out that 2 different parts of their website is contradictory and ask for their definitive answer.0 -
Would you class your laptop as 'small'?
Mine fits in my wife's handbag, then again I could probably fit into it too along with the kitchen sink.
Never flown CityJet and agree its worth getting clarification but most companies that allow 1 main piece plus a second personal bag type thing seem to accept laptop bags/ briefcases and handbags as long as they are in the realms of normal size0 -
Defo agree that you should confirm things with Cityjet prior to travel. They are small aircraft they use, so cabin space will be limited, you may end up with one of your bags taken off you and put in the hold.
This happened on an Aer Lingus flight I flew on recently. The cabin was full, people had loads of hand luggage and it was taken off them as there was too much for the bins. A women kicked up a fuss that her Hand luggage which resembled the suitcase I take for a months holiday was taken from her and wouldn't sit down in her seat, until it was put in the OH lockers. She was last on board and expected everyone to move their stuff for her. She was promptly shown the aircraft door with her ' Hand Luggage' and denied boarding !0 -
Why don't you check your suitcase? That seems the simplest solution. 20kg Checked luggage is included in the price of the ticket.
Anyway, if you don't want to do that, the planes are small, the overhead lockers are small, I take a large laptop bag and a handbag, the large laptop bag will only just fit in the locker, it's fine if it's not a busy flight, but I wouldn't want to be trying to get a laptop bag and a suitcase in the lockers on a full flight.
Where are you flying to/from, is it a busy route?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hi, thanks for you reply. I've decided to check the luggage, it's just a small suitcase but you are right, the planes look small and I prefer not to cause any hassle. The route is London-Antwerp, not sure how busy it is, it's the first time I do it.0

That's the route I use regularly, it's generally not that busy but they do have their moments. The overhead lockers are tiny and everyone is in a rush to get off!
Antwerp airport is so itsy bitsy, really nothing more than an airfield, it's not going to take that much longer to collect your checked luggage.
On the way home don't get to the airport too early, there's nothing there, just one bar/restaurant, no shops, no nothing. Once you go through security there's a drinks machine, there isn't even anyone on the check-in desk until 1hr before departure.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
