Halifax cashback extras

I've registered for the cash back extra, use my debit card, especially at Morrisons but still it just says offers pending and I seem to have accumulated no cash back.

I just wondered if anyone had an experience of time scales with Halifax.

The (Morrisons') offer has to appear under your account and you have to opt in to it before you'll accumulate any cashback.

I've no idea what criteria Halifax uses to decide who gets what offer. I've had quite a few different ones, but only found Morrisons and Starbucks useful.

I currently have Vintage Inn, The Body Shop, Morrisons, Interflora and Radisson Blu available.

I believe you have to spend on your Halifax debit or Credit card to get any of these offers.

The only offers which really interest me are the Morrisons ones. With this in mind I put a couple of weekly shops on my Halifax debit card a few months ago to try and 'encourage' these offers to come along but to date all I've got are offers in the food category (I don't use my Halifax card for anything usually). So I really have no idea what criteria they base the offers on.

I suspect the criteria are set by the company in question. So for Morissons for example, they could specify that if you have several transactions at Tesco, give them a 10% offer, Lidl 15%, but don't bother for Sainsbury's customers because they're happy paying a premium anyway. Or something like that :)

I currently have 13 offers. One of these is 15% at Waitrose which popped up today, and this is highlighted under (and so appears to be triggered by) the £3 I spent at Tesco last Thurrsday.

The only one I've ever taken advantage of is a Morissons one some time back, so I'm afraid I can't remember how it works!
  • I've only ever had a Lakeland offer. It's been sitting on my account unloved and unwanted for ages.

You have to select the offer and it goes into your SHOP box, then you use your debit/credit card. However it goes off your first spend only, unless the offer states.

I always get my cashback after a month they seem to pay them like their charging structure on the 1st day of the month. e.g. earned in October is credited 1st December.

The offers must be linked to where I use my card, Morrisons is the main one I use, however I have used Argos/Homebase/Waitrose also.

They don't encourage me to shop there as I would normally do so anyway, just a nice little extra for me.
  • I've been using my debit card for the past couple of months and I've not been given one offer. I think I'll just go back to my (not brilliant but better than nothing) rewards credit card.

Thank you to all who've replied.

I wish I knew how the criteria worked. I've been offered two supermarket cash backs. Given that I live on my own and never do a big supermarket shop, the amount of cashback on offer is derisory. Besides one of the offers is for a supermarket I never use, there not being one anywhere near my home or work place.

The great British public at their best.

I'll see it as something for nothing.

Yes it's something for nothing but frankly £1 is not enough to persuade me to use a particular supermarket. The offer may be great for someone who does a big family shop but I don't have a family to shop for.
