Will CIFA warning affected credit score?

Going to be applying for a mortgage soon so been checking mine and my boyfriends credit score.

The only concern I have on his, late last year his EE phone account was hacked and 3/4 business accounts were taken out under his contract running up hundreds of pounds onto his contract account. After weeks of complaining to EE they finally cleared the money off his account and offered him a lower monthly tariff as compensation for what had happened. We checked at the time and his credit score seemed to be fine, nothing showed. However on his credit report this month there is a default to state that he was in upto one month arrears in December 2013.

Then a few months later letters for an outstanding store card started coming through, in someone else's name but to my boyfriends address. He reported it to Santander and the police who I notice have put a CIFA on his credit report.

My question is will this affect the mortgage application in any way?
I've also written a complaint to EE who claim to get back to you in 72hours, however I have my doubts as it was a battle to get them to clear the bill that was from the hacker, so any tips on that would also be appreciated!

Thanks :)

Your "credit score" is a meaningless number. The CIFAS marker will affect your mortgage application because the marker means that lender will make extra checks to confirm your identity. If their are defaults from EE showing on your account that will have a much greater effect.
  • It states that the CIFA will clear on 26/12/14 so hopefully that will be gone by the time we have to apply for the mortgage. It's more the one month of arrears with EE that I'm concerned about? Hopefully they'll clear it as their lapse of security was how it was hacked in the first place!! Is there anyone from EE on here that could help???
