Cleaning decking

We inherited decking when we bought our house and am not sure how to go about cleaning it. We were thinking of getting a power washer as there are also quite a few slabs in the garden too but are not sure if that's the best thing to use for cleaning decking?

There is quite a bit of algae on the boards which makes it very slippy especially when its wet which is quite often as we're in Scotland!

I thought the power washer might be more environmentally friendly than the stuff you can get to dilute and scrub on the decking as all the products I've seen like that seem to be toxic to plants and as it would run off the decking onto the grass I'm not too keen.

Anyone got advice on this please?

Power washer will do the job but be careful they can destroy wood.

Once clean treat well and re clean regularly to avoid repeat build up.

Check it drains and does not have standing water.

Pressure washer, mine has a scrub brush specifically for decks. Avoid turbo lances or similar, they are way too aggressive for timber.

Karcher, don't always have the best reputation and loads are available as refurbs, don't know if that is good or bad, but can only go with my experience, not heresay.

1800watt min required for a decent "wash"
