Son has an xbox 360 with an xbox live subscription that runs until May 2015.

We are looking at a new xbox one and there are a few deals including 12 months xbox live subscription.

I have a couple of questions
1) I asume that an xbox subscription is transferrable between his xbox 360 and a new xbox one (using the same logon)
2) Does a 12 month subscription have an expiry/use by date or can I simply redeem it and it will extend an existing subscription by 12 months?

Thanks

    1) You assume right - all he needs to do is log in using the same credentials on the Xbox One and it will download everything it needs to carry on his same profile on there. I'm currently using one Gold account on an Xbox One and our old Xbox 360, as is mu wife and we've had no issues with it.

    2) No idea on this one I'm afraid, as I've never bought a package that included a Gold sub because I've always had one anyway. Is the deal online or in store? If it's somewhere like Game, chances are they can answer this for you. If not, then I'm sure someone will be along on here soon that can confirm.

I would imagine it'll be a bit of card with a code on it that you can redeem when you're ready, although I wouldn't like to say whether or not they have expiry dates on them. Sorry :(
