Currently in the process to redesign my bathroom, shower at the moment is a Gainsborough 9.5 Kw electric. Is shower using the water from gas combi boiler cheaper to run?

Yes, in nearly all cases.
Gas is approx one third of the price of electricity per kWh, so even allowing for inefficiencies in the boiler and plumbing, it will still work out cheaper to heat the water with the combi boiler.0 -
If you can put in a standard mixer shower then absolutely do it; can't stand the crappy flow rate you get from even top of the range electric showers...0
