New Years break ideas?

Hi,
I'm looking for ideas for where me and my partner could go for a New Years break this year. I'd like to go abroad and keep costs to a minimum. Looking for a 3-4 day break so somewhere in Europe perhaps.
I barely drink so not looking for anything too alcohol orientated. I'd like somewhere with a good firework show, or some other sort of entertainment.
Any suggestions welcome

We spent New Year in Prague a couple of years ago. They go ballistic (!) on fireworks. We went up to the Castle and watched from there. On New Year's Day there was another big display which we watched from the bridge by the national theatre. Spectacular.0

You are leaving it late to get a good deal for a NY break but if you are flexible if destination then you should be able to find something.
What kind of weather do you want? Would you prefer to see 2015 in wearing shorts and t-shirt or wrapped up in the snow? If you aren't bothered about getting some sunshine then Berlin sounds like a good idea.
I usually go to the south of Spain as flights and accommodation are usually cheap but this year I'm going to Cyprus for a change. However, I'm not too fussed about fireworks but I do like a bit of mid-winter warmth.0 -
We've been away a few times for New Year. Berlin was good, interesting city but the firework throwing was a bit too bonkers for us! We absolutely love Amsterdam for NYE (been there twice) - lots of crazy fireworks but the atmosphere is friendly and non-threatening. We've also been to Barcelona (I liked it, hubs hated it due to all the pickpockets), Las Vegas (incredible, but insanely expensive at New Year) and San Francisco (beautiful, wonderful city full of lovely people).
I'd strongly recommend Amsterdam, it's a lovely city and New Year is a good time to visit as there aren't any hen/stag parties to ruin it for everyone else!
The only thing is that prices are likely to be pretty high this close to the dates you want to go. We normally book around May/June. Hope you get something sorted

I done Barcelona three years ago for new years and i was underwhelmed by it, which ashame as I love barca any other time of the year.
we gathered with the crowds in placa de catalunya and apart from doing the obligatory swallowing of grapes at mignight it was a total non eventLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Trouble with New Years is it is expensive no matter where you go. But if that doesn't worry you, then this....
Fly to Nice, stay in Cannes. The Christmas Markets and hoo haa all along the Croisette and in the Marina before and on New Year is amazing. Such fun. Families, couples, singlies, groups, all out to have a good time, and they do. No drunken hordes either, but high jinks!
Then you can shop in the Rue Meynadier before you go home. Some high end foodie stuff, some tatt, some everything. And there are the REALLY high end shopping places in the Rue Antibes aswell, if that is your thing.
I love it there.
It can be as expensive or as economical as you want it to be. Ordinary people live there too don't forget!
And also, there is a chance that the weather will be good. It is definitely warmer than home anyway, not matter what!
Just around New Year, like everywhere, the prices for accommodation do rise.
Enjoy, wherever you go!0 -
If you'd love to party, I'd vote for Amsterdam too. Live music, entertainment and fireworks along the river are the best for a New Year's eve break.
But if you decide to go to Barcelona, have the spot near the marina. Fireworks display is done at the far end of the beach.0
