Stag Do Advice

Hi all,
Im trying to get a good understanding of what is a good value for a Stag do.
I am trying to find ideas for stag do's across the UK (or if it's cheaper abroad) for February next year.
It's from a Friday - Sunday so It's something really simple and quick to have a good enjoying time.
I've found lots of companies that are charging between £200 - £250 but I have the feeling that these prices are quite expensive.
I am looking at something simple such as a comedy club on the friday, followed by a pub crawl, saturday it is indoor go karting followed by a restaurant and then pub crawl/night club/strip club. Also accommodation for 2 days.
I can't see the value of what they are charging to cost that amount.
I am not too great on research when it comes to location, so just thought I'd get some idea or best practice on how you find good prices (and pricing it yourself) etc...
Thanks for the help in advance and look forward to any advice.

Those companies are effectively travel agencies, they know which nightclubs and hotels accept stag parties etc. A lot of decent hotels will not accept large group single-sex bookings because of the inevitable disturbance to other guests.
My tip would be to be really clear with people that there are fixed dates for bookings, deposits are final, etc. The poor sap who organises the stag often gets footed with all the grief of non-payers, drop-outs, etc.0 -
Have you thought about heading somewhere like Poland which will cost you about £120 for flights and 2 nights digs. Add to this that the average price of a pint is about £1.20 then everyone's a winner :eek:0

Organising this stuff isn't too hard. Yes, plenty of nightclubs/bars won't let in large groups of blokes - but lots will.
We just headed to Birmingham, stayed in the Ibis, had a 'lads night out', then the next day headed off to the middle of no-where to do outdoors lasertag, then sleep it off in a cabin.
There's no need to let someone organise a weekend for you if you've got some nouse to do it yourself.0 -
When it was my stag do I didn't want to go abroad as that would have excluded some of my friends being able to attend so we went for Blackpool (as lots of people do) and went through one of the organised companies (I can't seem to remember the name unfortunately) and they did hotel, go-karting, tickets to get into clubs etc.. Probably could have done it cheaper seperately but by booking with 1 company made things a lot easier especially as some were coming for whole weekend, some for 1 night etc.0

I've helped my friends organise a few hen do's in the past and we've done it all by ourselves rather than through a company.
Best best is to choose destination first. Top choices are usually Blackpool, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Brighton or other cities.
Then find a cheap hotel we've stayed in Travelodge, Holiday Inn Express (free breakfasts), Days Inn and Ibis and always booked it in advance and never paid more than £25pp per night.
Comedy clubs often come up on things like Groupon or Living Social, or sometimes they do special group rates which include dinner for a decent price too.
You can usually find go karting in most cities, my partner looked at Go Karting just outside chester for his stag do and it was about £25 each for a 1/2 day I think. In the end he went to the horse racing which is another good idea.
Restaurants are easy to come by and if you look at TripAdvisor someone will be able to recommend one in your destination that welcomes stags. Same for clubs, if you ask on TripAdvisor or look through old posts you'll find lots of info on which places welcome stags.
Agree with the post about poland, also consider Budapest & Bratislava as they are popular and cheap stag destinations.Lea

If you are on a budget than the only place is eastern europe. Personally I would go to Riga via Ryanair.0

OP you've described almost exactly what we did for a friend before he got married. We went to Brighton for a long weekend and it was all there, plus a lot more.Pants0
