'Green deal' has been very popular it is just 'green deal finance' which hasn't hundreds of throusands have benefited from free boilers insulation etc through the eco part of the green deal.

The green deal cash back schemes have been very successful.

Green deal finance does fill a gap for people who can't get conventional finance, it is just people don't understand how it works

99% of each green deal quid goes to the installers of boilers who charge 200% the normal rate for the job. Its a rip off predicated on the transfer of mi££ions from taxpayer to private sector installers. Ditto windymills and other green initiative transfer of mi££ions from taxpayer to private sector manufacturers & installers. Even the green deal loan company makes over 200% back on its [7% per year - per year return] investment. So 99% goes directly into the pockets of boiler installers and only 1% into any of the other 44 area's of allowable improvement. Read all the GD treads on MSE and you will quickly see that most as in 90% of the posters have paid the initial assessment fee then either don't get the assessment paperwork or no one ever follows up with any work. Even trading standards are inundated with GD scams and the CAB have gone to print that 75% of queries made to the Citizens Advice Bureau about the Green Deal are about scams!

Remember if anything is free [|Goldfish] its you that is the product, aka Google / Facebook / MSE Switch / Halfords Winter Check / Green Deal etc.

re, GD scams that is nothing to do with the green deal industry. That is scammers being scammers.
