Music Videos

I’m want to create a collection of 80s classic music videos for my wife for an Xmas present. Appreciate there are various compilation DVDs, but I want to handpick her favourites.

Can anyone recommend a download site that:
1) Has a good selection
2) Videos/audio are of good quality
3) Is trustworthy
4) Doesn't have inbuilt protection that prevents them from being burnt to DVD

iTunes would be an obvious choice but I believe that it falls down on that last point.

I’m not after a load of freebies but am happy to pay to get a good quality selection in a hassle-free way.

Thanks

YT has its advantages, but from my experience, ripping video from there doesn't usually result in something of great quality.

With DownloadHelper in Firefox, you can choose the quality of the video to download, and therefore choose the best. And it works with other video streaming sites too.

Youtube offers a "convert to mp3" service, just be sure to opt for the better clip version than the first grainy clip you come across and all should be fine. ;)

Thanks all. I've decided to take up your advice as in retrospect, YouTube does indeed look the best option.

Can you do this without using a third party? if so, how?

    Do you have Sky+?

There are a few music channels on there that regularly broadcast old music videos.

You could record them and copy them to DVD from there.

It would require quite a lot of time and effort.

I'm surprised nobody has yet raised the Copyright warning about this. ;)

    Technically...

The best option would be PireateBay they have a dedicate Music video area : https : // (add in a proxy link to Piratebay here)/browse/203

**NOTE** : Though music videos are technically copyrighted they are deemed by most people as "promotional materials" (videos used to promote an artist or song) and as long as it's for personal use (not monetary gain) I feel safe to say you will not have any major issues using the videos

the videos will be in either .mp4 .avi .mkv depending on quality.

Any good DVD burning program can convert those video files into a format that can be burnt onto a DVD and played on a DVD player.
