Template letter of complaint

Is there a template letter of complaint about not reporting accurately to CRAs?

I paid a full and final settlement to Post Office Credit cards of £3600 against a balance of £4042 in May 2013 and The bank of Ireland have not reported this to the CRA's and it shows as open with a delinquent balance of £4042 in default.

I paid all my creditors full and finals and this is the only one that have not reported accurately.

I don't want or need any credit, but my bank refused me a savings account which was annoying.

Not anything standard. I shall try to check through and highlight some key points that should be included if I get a chance later and no one else has posted anything suitable

Thanks Fermi, it is a bit irritating, they were quick enough to default me but it has been paid off for nearly 20 months and they haven't even bothered to update it in all that time, but I suppose they have got their money now.

Have you picked up the phone and asked why they have failed to update? It would be quicker than writing to them.

I sent an e-mail but have had no reply, it might be an idea to give them a call first.

I raised a complaint with Noddle when I found out about it and they said to write to the bank.

Noddle should have least contacted the bank on your behalf. Did they?

Will sort something in a bit.

OK basically a letter making these points.

    - Under the Date protection Act 1998 the information on your report must be accurate, adequate and up to date.
    - The entry on your report is none of those.
    - Under DPA and ICO guidelines it should be marked as a settlement or partial settlement, showing that there is no outstanding balance now due.
    - BOI must correct this.
    - This is a formal complaint, which you will be taking to the ICO and FOS if your file is not updated correctly.

Thanks Fermi, I rang them just now and they said they would update by the end go the month, so I will keep an eye on Equifax ( free trial) and Noddle.

The first person I spoke to said my balance was £442.28 - the difference between the full balance and the Full and Final.

Then they put me through to collections and they were very apologetic but blamed the CRAs for not updating it properly. They said the balance would be changed to zero and the account marked with a Partial settlement, which is fine and a true account of what happened.

I asked why it would take 20 months when everyone else did it straight away and he still blamed the CRAs.

So I will wait and see. I will draft a letter using the points in your post Fermi and have it ready to send just in case.
