Hi all,
I am trying to merge two sheets via cut 'n paste sorted by a common unique numerical Id.
The first file sorts fine. The second one copied from 8 xml files only sorts correctly for the first 800 records and the next 600 don't sort at all even though I have formatted the whole column as numeric with 0 dec places.
Grateful for any clues?
Cheers!

One issue might be that even though you have formatted the cells they are not showing as numbers but as text. Often happens if the data has come from a different system. To fix, highlight the whole column and then select the data tab and choose the "Text to Columns" icon. You should just be able to press finish and it will convert any text to numbers. make sure you don't have any blank lines at the top of your data and make sure you save a copy first just in case it does something you didn't want.
If this doesn't work check that one of the items that won't sort doesn't have any spaces before the data. You can use the Trim function to get rid of them if you do.0 -
Thanks Hugo!
In the end I found that one of the xml files had a mismatch of column headings and that's what seems to have caused it. Seems OK now :-)
