Help with faulty item

I have a Nexus 7 tablet bought in December 2012, so 22 months old. It stopped working this week, even trying to restore to factory settings wont work. It was bought in Currys so went to the Knowhow desk in PC world. They were less than helpful and told me to phone customer services. I did this and they gave a number to call Asus. I know the product is out of warranty but I am really disappointed at Currys/PC world lack of help. Is this what I should expect from them or should I expect more assistance from them. Thanks in advance for advice.

Well legally they don't have to do anything yet. After 6 months from purchase it is the customers responsibility to prove an item is inherently faulty.0

Currys/PC World have done thats all that is required of them, you could get a report done to find out what the fault is and if its inherently faulty, if it is then go back to the retailer.0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did read that, but was hoping they would be a bit more helpful in actually getting my problem resolved. You get the true mesure of a company when things go wrong I guess.0

Thanks for the advice. Any suggestions where I could go to to get that done? How much could I expect to pay?
An engineer who repairs items like laptops, google tablet repairs your area (insert your area here), dont know how much but you should get it reimbursed if its proved inherently faulty.
Have you looked on android forums to see if anyone has had the same issue.0 -
Thanks DCFC79. There are a couple of computer repair places nearby. I'll look into this a bit more.0

Enquire if they would provide a report as to the fault of the tablet and the cost of said report. Its more companies who would repair tablets would be your best bet, no harm in asking though.
Once you know the cost of said report then you can decide whether its worth going ahead or cut your losses.
Hiow did you pay for the tablet ?0 -
If its still under warranty return it. Otherwise the batteries needs unplugging. The back will come off if you gently start at the top. There are videos on youtube showing how.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Thanks again. I have a couple of numbers to ring tomorrow and will ask for a quote.
It was paid for by credit card.
Zaax, unfortunately it is out of warranty. I think its more of a processor problem as the battery still charges fine and it switches on, although then freezes immediately. I'll take a look at Youtube though - im willing to try anything! Thanks for the suggestion.0
