Do AA give a discount on car insurance

If you learn to drive with them? I'm looking to book some lessons as soon as possible, and have heard that they do that which is very appealing to me as a would-be young driver. If they do, is it a significant amount?

Thank you!

  • they probably do , however check carefully that the insurance company they suggest , is not at an inflated price.

Get some quotes from all insurers to see if the AA are competitive for you. A percentage off a high price may still leave a high price.

Even if they offer you 99% off. It could cost more than other insurers. Do all the comparison sites and then check the companies not on the comparison sites.

What you're suggesting amounts to choosing your driving instructor on the basis of price. That is not a good idea.

If you look around, you'll find lots of instructors who charge much less than the AA, and you could probably save more than any insurance discount. However, there's no easy way of telling whether they're any good.

What I'd advise is DO NOT book a course with AA/BSM or any big school. What matters isn't the school, but the individual instructor. You need to get on with him/her, and also to know that he won't be replaced at short notice by someone different.

Maybe book one lesson with a school. If you like the instructor and think he's right, make any future arrangements direct with him. Good luck!

They'll be suggesting AA Insurance given they own the broker rather than promoting a competitor
  • Learning with the AA driving school doesn't lock me down to buying insurance from them, and I'm well aware of that. I wanted to know whether anybody here had already done this and knew how much of a discount was offered, if indeed it was offered. Their prices are actually pretty competitive in my area, about the same as those of an independent instructor, hence this may give them the edge.

Thank you for your replies so far.
