How can a dishwasher be economical?

Our dishwasher is an ultra water efficient one (we have a water meter) and 90% of the time we use the speed wash which takes 35 minutes.
We are very happy with it and my OH sulks if we use the nice glasses that are too big and delicate for the dishwasher and need to be hand-washed; they sit by the sink for a few days and then I relent and wash them up (supposed to be his job).0 -
As some others have said we wash literally everything in our dishwasher (cheap/Beko) - never using any hot water for anything but hand washing/showers.
We run the dishwasher overnight each day in one 36 minute cycle with value tablets @ 5p each. Cheap tablets, no need for soaking, a job done with no effort from me & we've had no increase in electricity consumption during the last 3 years since we got one...in fact, this year our use went down. It's far better on water consumption compared to washing up after breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, visitors etc. too (& I just couldn't bear leaving washing up laying around...we live in the sticks & flies would appear out of nowhere if we did this...shhhhh...& my slight ocd would kick in at the sight of a job needing doing!

Only two of us, but I wouldn't be without a d/w for the convenience. Worth every penny especially as DH is pants at washing up
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Same here, 2 of us and the DW is used daily, if only lightly soiled plates, then the 32 min 45 deg cycle, everything else on 50 deg or 65 if stuck on debris.
I buy the powder from Aldi. They had it reduced to clear last year and bought 8 bags at £2.29. Guess what? They have it again this year in the dumper baskets. Their rinse aid and cleaner are really good too.
Wouldn't be without it, I have even rented a villa in Lanzarote for Xmas, which has one too !
Way Hay! no washing dishes on hols!! lol0
