if you have a 0% on purchases deal for 9 months on a new credit card, would this include purchasing something big like a car?
say the car is £7,000 - could you use that as £7,000 interest free credit on this 0% purchase deal for the 9 months? i'm presuming a purchase is a purchase.

(credit limit £9,100)

Yes you could. It might be worth alerting them first, as they may be suspicious of a large transaction.

Make sure you make minimum payments on time and have a plan to deal with the situation by the time the 9 months is up. Interest could be steep if it kicks in.

Worth noting that the car dealer might well want to charge you a fee for use of the CC - and that if he doesn't he will have built it into the price.

Watch out though there is a maximum % by law that they can charge for using a credit card... we got stung for 4% by a dodgy car dealer ( that was only part of the story)

Got my car on a 0% purchase card and the dealer waved the fee,
so the car was either overpriced or he wanted to get rid of it !!!
It was and still is a nice car and it was what I wanted.
£8k on a 15 month 0% purchase rate that has recently ended but I transferred it to the 0% BT Tesco card :)
So the money I had to buy the car out right is still sitting in my savings earning interest.

    regards
