Big Winter Switch to E.ON - EON failed to provide my MPAN and MRP.
Hi.
I wanted to switch to EON Collective Tariff. Since I had prepayment meters just changed to credit I did not have any bills, anything with MPAN. I have contacted EON as soon as I find out about winter switch. (Monday by e-mail). There was no answer to this email. I have tried calling Western Power Distribution, but they said thanx to Data Protection they need to protect me from getting my MPAN. Then I tried to ask and complain to Cheap Energy Club team. They said however that I need to ask EON and they can't help. So I tried to phone EON. Gave up after hours of "one of ours advisors will be with you shortly" even in the morning mid week.
I wrote e-mail with complaint to EON still asking for numbers (thursday). No answer.
I'm gonna write complaint on paper to enyone I can, not to mention switching away from EON ASAP.
Here I wanted to write about how bad supplier EON can be, simply ignoring if you want to take avantage of something they don't like.

Why do you need your MPAN, I have never given or have been asked for it, name and address is all and everything changes smoothly. They sometimes ask to confirm meter serial but that is it.0

When filling application on Cheap Energy Club page they were asking for supply numbers. I could not finish my application for switch without them. I emailed Cheap Energy Club team, and they told me that they can't proces my application without them.0

Likewise never used MPAN and i have switched over ten times .
Possible its due to the switch from prepayment .0 -

Totally agree that switching away from E-on is of the highest priority. I was treated as off the radar and insignificant. They wouldn't produce a bill, since March, no matter how much I asked, despite having meter readings. Overcharging, deliberate massive false bill put on my account as soon as I said I was switching and referenced the ombudsman. I could go on, but basically no issues resolved, and am awaiting the ombudsman result, as I switch to Ovo. (Careful usage for previous 8 months, on the only, very high, tariff possible for RHT meter, with double standing charges, ended up averaging £100 a month. E-on have put a £5,411 bill on my account, when I owe £800 at the most, having also changed to E7 meter in August, in order to be able to switch).
Make an official complaint, as, after 8 weeks are up, you can then contact the ombudsman (their site explains more ... http://www.ombudsman-services.org/energy.html). Best to just deal with the ombudsman, after the conditions are fulfilled for requesting a case is begun. Don't try to inform or discuss with E-on, as they'd just get more unpleasant and try to actively cause problems about switching, as I've described. The ombudsman case takes time and there won't be much communication goes on, but at least results have to be arrived at fairly and within the law.
Ovo featured on ITV's 'Tonight' program, being the only energy supplier who opened their doors, being fully transparent. I'm having no issues with them at all, in total contrast to dealing with E-on. I hope you can switch asap. Better to spend a few £'s extra, yet deal with a really reliable and decent company, than entirely waste your time trying to get answers and solutions from E-on. Good luck!0 -
EDIT: I misread your post, I thought you had not yet had the meter exchanged. If you read my comments before this edit, please disregard.0
