Credit file missing?

Hi!
I started lurking this site long time ago and today I have finally registered and I am about to write my first post.

I have found myself in a quite bizarre situation today. I rang barclay's earlier today to cancel my business debit card (which I am not using) and during the identification process I have been transferred to the security department.

I was quite shocked when they told me that they could not find my credit file on equifax using my name, address and date of birth: I am holder of two bank accounts, my personal account which is active since 2008, a business barclays account, my car loan (with barclays and with an outstanding balance of about 5K remaining), a barclaycard freedom reward with zero balance (I pay off the balance in full every month) and a monthly phone contract with vodafone.

Previously, my credit file was in perfect order, with no defaults and no late payments.

Obviously on the phone I have said that if they had my name there must be trace of me somewhere, at least my bank account... and the person on the phone agreed that is a bizarre situation.

Can a credit file disappear with no reason? or there may be some problem with their system? What I am supposed to do?

Do you live in a flat or have you given your house a name? Does the address you provide match the post office website?
  • Hi!
I live in an house (shared with two other people), no name and yes I am on the electoral roll. The address match, I have asked. :(

    Very unusual.

I would order yourself a copy of your equifax file and see what it shows.
