    I don't think pension tax credits go back 20 years - weren't they brought in by Brown about 12-14 years ago? I really can't imagine that any of the amount claimed goes back to whatever system they had before pension tax credits - they probably won't have the information from that long ago. You need to check the amount they want, i.e. exact amounts, exact dates, etc. The first stage is knowing whether the amount is even right, then you can go about appealing etc.

    pension credit started 6/10/03, before that would be MIG and income support, they can do overpayments as far back as they can
  • as other have said they can do this it happened to an elderly friend of mine recently they wanted just over £1800 back from him they gave him the choice of instalments too which he took
