Post Office All4one gift vouchers -scam!

I have been given several vouchers over the last few years from the post office. They are "all4one" so you can spend them in LOADS of places. I have been in to check my balance on a couple of the cards and found that I have been charged a card management fee of .90 a month! On 2 cards!!! So I've lost £10 of my total voucher value. Surely this is out of order considering these are GIFT cards..... So my friends and family have paid for me to have a voucher to spend, rather than just give me money...how can they possibly justify charging me???
Has anyone else had the same problem? Surely this isn't right or fair?

Guess it's 90p if it's not a Euros card
2.7 A monthly inactive balance charge of €1.45 (or the credit balance on the Card, if lower) will be charged after the Card has been in issue for 12 months. This charge will start to be applied from the following month and will continue until such times as the balance on the Card is zero and this agreement is terminated.

The Uk T+C state thisHow long is a One4all Gift Card valid for?
One4all Gift Cards issued after 01 December 2011 do not have an expiry date and will remain valid for as long as there is a balance on them. All physical cards have a limited time span and will need to be replaced to use the remaining funds on the card after this date. This date is printed as a "Valid Thru" date on the front of the gift cards. (Remember that any funds remaining on the card after this date remain available for you to spend, however you will need to apply for a replacement card to do so.) Furthermore, a charge will be deducted from funds remaining on cards monthly after the 18th month following the purchase date. The monthly charge is currently 90p or the remaining balance on card if lower. For cards issued before 01 December 2011 please refer to the terms and conditions on the directory or card carrier supplied at time of purchase or contact Customer Service Helpline Number 08700 84 4444.Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -
I agree it doesn't seem fair, but it is stated in the T&Cs, so not a scam.
Thank you for highlighting it though and warning others.
I suppose the answer is spend them as soon as possible...0 -
This is their business model. It depends on balances remaining unspent forever or to levy a charge once the card is so many months old.
Nothing unfair or scammy about this. The terms and conditions are clearly shown on the website.
If you had them for many years, you should have checked up on dormancy fees and/or expiry dates.
I have used these cards a fair and have never had any problems with them.0 -
You could have spent them sooner, some gift cards would have expired before the PO started to levy the monthly fee so you could have been worse off0

I still don't understand why people are still buying vouchers such as this due to the fact that if the issuing company closes down, the vouchers will probably become worthless.
There are far better pieces of paper to give, pieces of paper that can be used in just about every shop in the country.0
