vehicle tracking

can my employer track only my van?
the company has many vehicles but apparently they wish to install a tracker to my vehicle only. I only received this news recently and I am not sure if it is a trial or permanent and what their reasons are behind the decision.
Feels a bit discriminating.
(Please do not reply back with "you must have something to hide" etc etc as I am excellent at my job and work to the rule.)

That could be the reason why. If you are as good as you say you are and efficient get the job done and the others don't maybe they want to see what you are doing different.0

thanks, however I know that it is definitely not that reason (although I wish it was) I am having other problems with management and feel this is another poke they are having at me. We have other vans and cars however it is only me they are tackling.0 -
Then it could well be discrimination. How ever if they fit them to other vans will they turn them on?0

indeed, that is a good view.
I dont have a problem with being tracked as I do nothing wrong. Just disappointed in the lack of trust after my many years of service. I appear to be struggling to find any online advice as to whether it is OK to do this to just one employee.0 -
I think you answered your own question in the OP. If any questions are asked they can simply claim it's just being trialled. Little or nothing you can do to stop them.0

It's not discrimination, well no one can conclude that as nothing here points to it being discriminatory.
you might feel you are being victimised, which is of course different.
a trial of one sounds weird. Is there any reason, or anything in these "management issues" that might help us not have to second guess. You state you are excellent at your job and work to rule (which can be construed with two different meanings) and you also state you have issues with management, which seems at odds with someone who is "excellent at their job"0 -

Little bit strange isn't it !
Trackers are so last year, wait till they catch up with the rest of industry & fit remote access CCTV. Then the OP will have something to bleat about.0 -

I'll fill in any blanks if there are questions you have? I have another topic open if you wish to view.
In my role I always perform well, complete tasks well within times and complete them to a high standard. I receive regular praise from clients and colleagues and manage much more than I am paid to do. I deal with many managerial tasks where as others in a similar role do nothing of my sorts. My days and locations can be very varied so I manage my own work loads and decide what course of action is needed. I have never really needed a manager, I just do my job.
We have had a hazardous management structure lately. I have been employed for a good numbers of years and have never failed any work related task, called in sick or received any complaints.
Maybe it's this "freedom" or "care free" approach they wish to rain in? Whatever it is, it is really getting me down and I am usually a happy chappy.0 -

How is it strange? Do you not believe that you are good at your job?(Please do not reply back with "you must have something to hide" etc etc as I am excellent at my job and work to the rule.)
Didn't you read this?0 -
When we first had trackers we trialled them in one van first. In our case, different drivers can be driving the same van.
Trial wouldn't normally last more than a week though. So if after say 2 weeks, just to give a bit of latitude, they hadn't fitted them in another van, I'd just ask why.
As for ftting kit into other vehicles but not paying for them to be linked up, is not going to happen. Those things cost money!0
