Rejected for Barclaycard

in Credit cards
After a little advice. We recently moved house (4 weeks ago) and decided to get a new credit card to balance transfer some of our balance from another card. My partner applied and Barclaycard wrote to request further ID (address proof) which we provided from their acceptable list.
They have written today to advise that the application has been declined and having called them it's because neither the electoral roll or the credit reference agency had our new address as the correct address. We have not informed the credit reference agencies but have changed details at the electoral roll (no idea how long this takes to actually take effect).
The long and short of it, I'm wondering if we should pursue this further (as I believe it's nothing to do with actual credit rating) or whether we should just leave it and move on. We have around £3000 on an interest bearing card but don't want to apply to a number of cards and cause us more problems later with credit reference agency issues - would rather just pay the interest (as it will take around 6 months for us to pay it off).

Electoral roll - at this time of year (during the annual canvas) it will take several months for your new elec role details to show on your credit file.
Presuming you have updated your bank account / other credit accounts etc with your new address these will filter through to your credit file over the next month or so (they will in effect link your old and new address on file).
You could try applying in a month after your address on your credit files has been updated. I wouldn't try lots of applications though. If your own bank offers 0% bts and you don't already have a card with them then you may stand more chance with them.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Most applications I have filled in ask for 3 years worth of addresses.
IMO they would have been able to match your address up unless yours is a new build and is not yet on post office database.
You could appeal if you think it is worth it but if they don't want to lend to you can't make them.
Have you got a card from your main bankers?0 -
2 Other credit cards - one with nothing outstanding and the 3000 I was talking about transferring. Not with main bank so that might be a better option to consider...
Thanks for the help so far...0 -

The card with no balance on, could you try phoning them and ask if they would do a balance transfer at 0% interest for 6 months and then retry for a new credit card?
They might say no, but as the saying goes "If you don't ask, you don't get!"0 -
Tried that before we moved unfortunately:)0

I recently re-signed on to electoral roll after discovering via a credit report check that my ex accidentally removed me from the roll earlier this year when she moved out (through registering for council tax on her new place).
I was told that the viewable register gets updated on 1 December and that the credit reference agencies should have updated details on file a couple of weeks later.0 -

This will be different for different local authorities, however.
Or at least it was before the new system came in to place.0 -
This is correct, I've had notification back that the electoral roll will not be updated in my area until 27th February!0
