Lowell Portfolio success story!

I thought I'd just share a bit of light in all this darkness

I took out a 3mobile internet dongle in December 2007.
I was told it'd work in my desktop pc and give it internet access.
This was not the case - it was mis-sold and wouldn't even begin to work.
I took it back and expected that to be that.

Oh no.

Fast forward to december 2013 and they've chased up a £30 'debt' after I stopped a direct debit they tried to claim - they've upped the debt to £400!

I've been aware of the debt, but not too bothered as it was just another problem to face (it's been an eventful few years) and has never really brought me any problems. "mistake in admin" I thought.

I spent a year or so overseas working in banks and eventually returned to the UK where I was jobless and looking for work in the uk's employment blackspot. Great.

Naturally, I assume that banks and financial institutions are the best bet. I'm experienced, I'm an overachiever... why not?

I spent 2 years unemployed for 'unknown' reasons when I asked people who'd interviewed me.

It wasn't until I was rejected for a mobile phone contract that it dawned on me that I had a default on my credit file for years and years. I knew it wasn't legit, but other people didn't!

So I finally get contact from them in december 2013 saying they're going to take me to court for a CCJ. Great. :T

Jobless, homeless and getting a CCJ. Let's jump under a bus.

I counterclaimed. My counterclaim was approx 14,000 words. :rotfl: and included phrases like "faeces smearing, dimwitted, moustache curling *phallus* heads" and other gems worthy of "The thin blue line".

So I got a letter in January that the CCJ had been thrown out of court. I looked at my credit rating... default still there. Urgh. It'd have been quicker to get a CCJ in the first place because it's been more than 6 years now!

I contacted Lowell "You have a CCJ" fuming. The poor girl I spoke to must've been at ease with the language I used. She clearly does her job wrong all the time.

I contacted Bryan Carter. "We sent you a letter" yes, and it's not been followed up... "We've lost the letter" Brilliant!

And so the emails begin with Lowell. From "We have no account" to "Contact 3" I was sent about the houses.

Here's the good bit - I complained to 3 directly and... they've found data usage records that go well into 2008! :rotfl: Genius! So they, apparently, provided me with free internet for 7 months and I managed to get it to work on a computer that it didn't work on! Awesome. Clever me, huh?

I decided to call their bluff.

Lowell Financial received a court summons from me on 01/08/14 with the accusation of defamation of character, assault of credit file, harrassment, fraud & was all bulked up with the money they'd have to pay out for how it's affected my health.

The health part is true, I suffered great mental anguish over this, leading me to develop anxiety attacks (which apparently don't ever go away) and insomnia (for which I was prescribed Rohypnol... ROHYPNOL! :rotfl: ).

Skip ahead one month. I'm in work now. Sat in the office at my desk checking my personal emails at the end of the day and there's a new one from them. "Urgh". Seething.

I open it up and it's full of apologies on behalf of poor administration - denial of all things I've accused them of - and a "managerial, commercial decision" to remove the default and it's history from my credit file.

Now it's gone. Like it was never there.

But that doesn't really settle my question that I have...

This is an admission of guilt, isn't it? Surely if they're removing it like this, they know they're wrong and have been wrong all along, right?

This has prevented me getting employment, credit, a phone... basically anything I needed right down to paying monthly on car insurance... I've been turned down for renting homes, for various things that stalled my life and put me in the bottom rung of society for years that I can't get back.

Surely it isn't legal to chase someone like this and destroy their lives when you're actually chasing something fictional? :(

At least it's gone now, but I don't think they should get away with taking 2 years of my life..

(and before the 'you shouldve paid then sorted it out' police get here... don't. I shouldn't have to make allowances for bullsh** companies poor efforts)

Success against Lowell... sort of!
I can't add up.

Fair play to you, it seems that your persistance paid off albeit leaving your health a little scarred.

If I were you I would leave it at that, the stress of chasing them and waiting 30 days here and 30 days there for replies will probably get to you even more.

You've WON, a lot of people on here never get that satisfaction against companies like Lowell.

    Well done.
