Failed Direct Debit

Hi

I made a faster payment in branch to my credit card of the full balance (£400) and cancelled the direct debit.

I knew I would get a statement this month with the residual interest (£4.43). I have rang them today to pay the £4.43 and closed the account.

I have been hit with a £12 "unpaid direct debit" charge. After a bit of a moan they have refunded the charge and I have paid the interest and closed the card.

I am worried what this effect will have on my credit rating. The manager I spoke to said as I had paid the balance before the DD was due, it will not show up.

Is this correct?

Thanks

    Yes, that is correct.

To be doubly sure you may want to check your credit report in a month to ensure they haven't made a mistake on your entry.
