Thank you MSE to the guide in appealing private car parking charges. I followed it to the letter and this morning received a letter confirming UKPC have cancelled the charge.
Long story short.
New to Stevenage & where to park. Advised to park at Leisure park & walk over connecting railway bridge into town. Plan to use cash point, shop and then return for lunch.
Parked. Looked for parking metres. None. Signs were very high I couldn't read them properly. Went to town. Returned approx 1 hour. Parking ticket on my car.
Went for lunch. Got receipt.
Fine said £100 or £60 if paid in 14 days.
Used the MSE guide via google. Followed it to the letter.
1) Wrote to the Managing director of Stevenage leisure park. Got a proof of postage from post office. Gave full details of incident including evidence i used their facilities to eat. Laid it on thick how I felt harassed by this company SLP were using. l No reply from them.
2) Received another letter from UKPC saying the 14 days had passed I now owed £100.00. Do not panic.
3) Waited for the Notice to keeper. This came after the 28 days the original charge letter said I had to pay
4) Wrote to UKPC using the template provided on the other threads.
I did not elaborate. Did not provide evidence that I ate there. Did not even confirm I drove.
I asked them for an appeal reference to them write to POPLA.
I asked for a proof of postage from the post office.
5) 9 days later I received a letter from DRP Debt recovery Plus. Advising I had 14 days to pay now £160.00 or they will recommend to the solicitors that court action should taken to recover what I owed.
I had not received an Appeal reference from UKPC!!!
6) Today, 3 days after the Debt recovery letter I received a letter from UKPC stating " Thank you for your recent correspondence in relation to the above parking charge. We understand your frustration and appreciate the inconvenience caused you. It is not our intention to cause undue worry and frustration when enforcing our clients parking regulations.
We have investigated the appeal based on the information submitted by yourself and can confirm in this instance that the parking charge has been cancelled.
On behalf of ourselves and our client we apologise for any inconvenience."
Result!!!!!!
I strongly believe the letter I wrote to the leisure park was the key.
I had my evidence & letter ready to go for POPLA but luckily I did not need it.
I would have gone to court over it, no way I would have paid it. They are only non business as people feel threatened.
Might spend a day warning other drivers. They sit there watching people park using cameras & then issue tickets. There was not any clear warnings.
Thank You again MSE & all those who posted.

Hi I got a letter from park direct uk apparently I parked somewhere which I shouldn't parked soI called to pay £60 they told me it's now £100 to pay I asked them why they told me the penalty charge was 3 weeks ago and we sent you a letter then I said I got the letter today but he said either pay £100 or appeal to popla which I did appeal to popla but been rejected poppa says they are not responsible for post so I don't know what to do I'm happy to go to court I just don't want to pay extra £40 for not receiving the letter on time is there any chance I can be stopped by bailiff or police in the street before it goes to court or not if someone can help please

Don't hijack others people's posts!
There's a specific forum dedicated to parking issues, you need to go read the sticky thread labelled 'NEWBIES' in there, that will tell you exactly what to do.0 -
Sorry I didn't know I was posting in other person first time thanks for your time0

Or you could do what anyone else would do. Ignore them because they have no legal right to request money.I can't add up.0

Then the posting guide/conditions should be fresh in your memory - and you are only posting here because you agreed to have read and understood them!
Please get yourself into the Parking Tickets Forum, red the Newbies Sticky carefully and then post your own thread - that way you get the best help with the least fuss and bother.0 -

No, you ignore this idiot - Ignoring has not been an option since 2012, except in Scotland and NI where POFA 2012 does not apply.0
