Missing/lost Amazon return!

I purchased a mobile phone from Amazon on the 21st October which was faulty on receipt. I requested a return and replacement through their returns process. The only option they offered was sending via Collect+. I dropped off the Amazon package, suitably labelled etc. at a local collect+ store on the 23rd. Tracking ends on the 24th.
I've contacted Amazon (twice) and collect+. Amazon say it's "in transit" but collect+ are giving the impression it's lost. They(Collect+) have requested and been given all the package details.
Who is liable for this? I have done all that was necessary by sending the package as Amazon required and using their designated carrier and at their expense.
Amazon initially advised that the item should be returned to them by 21st Nov or I will be charged for it.
I have done nothing wrong and surely it is up to Amazon and Collect+ to sort this out?

Did Amazon arrange the courier for you? (ie supply the paperwork to use)
Do you still have proof that you gave it to the collect+ point.

If both these are yes, then it's Amazons responsibility and it's down to them to sort it out. Deal with them directly, not Collect+.

Amazon are usually excellent in this scenario- as long as you have your receipt and /or the tracking showing Collect Plus took the package from you then you should be fine.

  • Yes, the return was through Amazon's own system and at their request and expense with the only option to use collect+. If I'd opted for a refund then it would have been either at my expense and choice or RM 48hr tracked. All I did was print out the Amazon return label and battery warning, stuck them to the package, with printed barcode inside and dropped them off at a Collect plus designated store.
I have the Collect+ receipt with tracking reference and have printed out e-mails received from amazon and Collect+ and the return labels again. Plus the tracking record which stalls on the 24th Oct.
Amazon just seem to be stalling though and all I can get from them is "it's still in transit". What, after over two weeks?!
I'll persevere with Amazon, there has to be a stage where they class the item as lost.
If the 'phone's been pinched, then the tealeaf will be sorely disappointed. It doesn't work. i.e. dead on arrival.:)
