Hi
I just wanted to change the front doors from dark brown wooden to pvc or composite whites, do I need to inform the council or take permission for it.
The windows in the house are all white pvc.

as its your house no need to notify them if its just the door. If your adding a porch/extension for the new door then you may lolEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Thank you so much for your replies
Just changing the doors, not adding anything to it and not in a conservation area either so I think I am good to go
off to some local guys over the weekend.
Any good companies online you could recommend, I checked valuedoors and yaledoors but I think they are quite pricey but may be then the quality is good too but I am newbie on that.0 -
I think there are composite door in dark brown colour. Although I don't know the cost difference0

No, 1 of the few things you can do that the council BC don't want a cut out of,:mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
In my area, the council like leaseholders to inform them of any proposed changes, just in case. They will then decide whether or not planning permission is required. As another poster said, many of us who replace like with like and/or do something that other residents have already done do not bother to tell the council.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

If you are in a conservation area, then you must check with the council. If you are a leaseholder, then you may need to check with the freeholder - though unlikely. If you are the freeholder and not in a conservation area, then you are king of your castle and can do as you wish. Paint the whole house luminous pink if you wish.0
