O/S Daily Friday 7th November 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, looks to be dry but windy.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 to get up shortly.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk. I had chicken, jacket potato and beans, I hadn’t planned very well as wasn’t sure how I’d feel after hospital in the morning. Tonight I’m thinking is going to be some sort of pasta type dish.

Well plaster is off, at long last, and I’m going back to work on Monday on a phased return, and reduced hours, still need to be careful for the next 4 weeks, no running, no jumping, no high heels, and no jumping off the wardrobes! – what moi?! Although not painful, it feels really rather weird, feels like I’m a bit lopsided, but it just needs to get stronger and less stiff – as it’s been held in 1 position for 10 weeks. I did come home yesterday and go and jump in a hot bath, I don’t like baths but I have to say I enjoyed that so much. Just as well as the heating has broken down this morning, so we have no heating or hot water and I’ve tried to re-set the boiler but it won’t reset. I had already booked the heating engineer as we had this fault last week but then I managed to reset the boiler but it won’t reset now, they are coming on Monday as when I told them what the fault was they knew what part was needed. I’ll email them again shortly just to confirm they are definitely coming on Monday and may say to come in the afternoon so I can be here in the afternoon.

Have loads of stuff I want to get on with, did start yesterday by getting the kitchen back to how I like it to be, although it desperately needs a deep clean, but I did manage to get everything put back in the cupboards and the work surfaces cleaned down. I also got to sleep on my side of the bed which was lovely, so slowly but surely we’re getting back to some sort of normality. I will need to go to the bank, but will do this tomorrow as I don’t have everything ready needed to go today, will go to the SM on my own this morning, I haven’t driven yet so need to do that too and the SM isn’t too far away. Have quite a few clothes to put away in drawers etc so will get that done too, if I feel able I will try to get the ironing done also, so at least next week starts with us being semi organised. If I feel able I may do some cooking/baking too.

Have good Friday’s everyone x

Take care x

Keep safe and well x

nmlc Pleased your plaster is finally off x
Molly Hope your appointment went well yesterday x
LameWolf Glad to hear you're normal :D

Work rang yesterday, some flooring hasn't arrived so they can't go out fitting today. Which means they'll be in the shop and I don't have to go in. I celebrated with two kitkats :D

Love love love the John Lewis ad :D

The chickens are happy in their clean shed. It smells faintly of coffee, I sprinkled coffee bean husks over the floor to make it easier to clean next time.

I was really tired yesterday afternoon, and very cold. I wrapped up in my extra long thick cardi, turned the heating up a bit, watched the latest episodes of Sleepy Hollow and Grey's and made some snowballs. They're not perfectly round but that's OK :D

Shopping this morning, I'm not sure what we're doing after that. I want to check out a new fruit and veg shop near me and also visit the service station shops – everything they sell is local – but the weather is awful and I don't fancy traipsing around in the rain.

Morning All

Judi - Bonnie is huge! What a cutie though, hope all goes well.
nmlc - So pleased for you that the plaster is off, I know you want to get back to normal but don't do too much too soon, your leg has a bit of catching up to do!
tru - Sounds like my kind of celebration! Enjoy your day off. Your chickens sound very happy, makes me wish I could have some again.

Hospital appt first thing for a check on the funny thing on my nose, I think the cream has burnt it away, hope so cos it looked horrid while it was doing its thing.
Work then driving to Chester to stay with my Aunt. Going to cousin's 50th but could get a frosty reception as I had the audacity to tell cousin that I wasn't happy that she hadn't invited my Aunt (her mum). Still, I will catch up with other cousin and husband and spend the day tomorrow with my Aunt and take her for lunch. Will make a duty visit to the party as I feel bad that my Aunt will be at home on her own. Families!

Had salmon and veggies for tea yesterday, lovely to have carrots, not had them in ages for some reason. DD will be having left overs when I am away, she'll not starve.

Wet again but don't think its as windy as last night, must open the blinds to have a look. Washing going on airers, sure it will still be there when I return!

Have a good weekend. Take care. XX

Morning all,

Pouring with rain here and very cold although we have the heating on and its nice and warm inside.

Little dog continues to do well she is on a cocktail of drugs from the vets and I am slightly worried when we stop them that she will get ill again, hopefully not, she also has a lump come up overnight on her neck where we inject her, so will get the vet to check her over on Saturday.

Spag bol for dinner tonight I hope OH will cook it as its one of his favourites to cook !

Judi the baby is gorgeous bless her x

Hope all the doggies are ok xx

Have good days all xx

Good morning everyone

It's a wild and windy day here this morning, I've caved and put the heating on and it's lush :D. My lovely youngest sister is coming to see me this morning, I haven't seen her for months so I'm very excited to catch up with her. I will go and push the hoover around in a mo and light my oil burner to make the house smell lovely.

Judi, that is a big baby, very very cute though,
nmlc - I am very happy for you that your plaster is off but my goodness, you have a busy day planned. Don't do too much though and set your recovery back.
redruby - still have everything crossed that little dog makes a full recovery.

My youngest daughter has been struggling in school as the bullying has started up again. Her head of year is aware and trying to sort it out. I am so angry about it and want to march round to their houses and scream at them but that wouldn't do any good. It's quite serious as they pushed her in front of a car last week on the way home from school  The driver got out and chased them away but he was quite shaken up as you can imagine, as was my daughter. I wish I had sent her to the other school now but I thought that being in the same school as her sisters would help her. Anyway, her godmum is picking her up from school for a little while until things get sorted. My youngest is the sweetest, kindest girl you could find and I'm so so sad her school days are being blighted by some horrible girls.

Hubby is working a half day today and he's promised to buy Chinese tonight so no cooking for me...woo hoo! Hope everyone has a lovely day whatever they are up to. Take care xx

Morning everyone.

What an awful night! Rain battered against the windows all night. Just couldn't get the woodburner to draw properly, think it was the wind. Luckily it wasn't cold.

nmlc - great news that you're plaster free and back up and running. Taking things easy is really difficult.

Had a very long and mostly angry conversation with nPower yesterday. The organisation is really incompetent and the habit of agents repeating apologies doesn't help. Grrr.

At home now, still under the duvet. Stocked the fridge up for the weekend and will cosy down when chores are done.

Have a good trip Camelot - families are the most odd group of people, at least mine are.

Happy Friday everyone.
• Good morning all,

It has rained all night, and is still raining now.

nmic it must be such a relief to have the plaster off, and you must feel lighter as well. No swinging from the chandelier for a few weeks please :)

Dumpling you have my sympathy. DD1 was bullied, obviously many years ago, and I just wanted to go round and give them what for. We tried every tactic, be friends with them, ignore them etc, and in those days schools didn't seem very interested in the situation despite me telling them what was going on. I know schools are more proactive now, so I hope it is sorted soon. It is probably because she is a nice sweet girl that they are picking on her.

Have to pop out this morning to do a small shop. I am at the NEC tomorrow with DGD1 and Saturday is usually our shopping day, after which will see DD1 for a coffee.

Molly I hope everything went as well as it could yesterday, hugs to you in you need one.

RR pleased little dog is responding to the drugs, I suppose it i a ait and see situation.

Camelot hope you enjoy the party.

Have a good day everyone

Morning all,

Bonnie has had a good first night in the baby house I am assured. Babies don't usually take long to be adopted into their forever home. Older babies (Older than 2) take a little bit longer.

Weather is not so good today. I'm so glad I went to see Mom yesterday instead of putting it off until today. Lucy dog had to be forcefully ejected this morning. She doesn't like the cold, wind or rain.

Bedding is being laundered, kitchen floor done. Vacuuming and cleaning throughout next on my list... Then the bathroom. I'll fit in a bath somewhere amongst the list of jobs.

Pork for tea tonight as hubby is home. Its his favourite meat (Lamb is mine).

Onwards and forwards,

have a great day all.

• Good Morning everyone, we had very heavy rain here at 5 o clock ish this morning and it woke Docky up and straight into panic mode so I've been up since then although he did calm down fairly quickly. Hope little dog continues to hold her own and the lump is only a reaction to the injections, sensible to get it checked though.

MOLLY hope all was well yesterday with you and the puplets.

I feel like I've been run over by a tank still and sooooo tired. Am still coughing and sneezing like a goodun' and flat as a dab. I hope this departs pdq as I'm fed up with it!!! We had a robin on the bird table this morning, first small bird I've seen in the garden for a while so I guess the colder weather is making then hungry. I've crumbled up some stale cake left from halloween and hopefully I'll get a few more in to watch. It's a joy and it's free.

Look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.
• Morning all,

Oooh look the suns come out. Bet that won't last long!

Judi - Bonnie is lovely.
Mrs LW - Hope you feel better soon x
Nmlc - Glad the plaster is off.
Dumpling - To me that is more than just bullying - it's downright dangerous!! I wonder if a word to the local pc about the situation is a good idea? It's a criminal act surely?

WM is on, more drying clothes indoors. Might do some baking in a little while.

I'm feeling a little miffed with DS2's College at the moment. He was home early yesterday by about an hour because the tutor was ill. Today is his full day 9 -5 but they are only to go in for two hours 10 -12 because todays tutor has family problems in Manchester! I understand the tutor can't help that but surely they have other tutors available to cover the lesson?! If the students need time off they don't like it and bang on about punctuality and attendance etc. They need to practice what they preach a bit more. Rant over ;/

Enjoy the rest of the day x
