problems with dell

my latop was making a burning smell so they said id need it replaced. i paid for their next working day on site warranty and have 2.5 years left on it so the supervisor said he would transfer it to my new laptop.

however, this hasnt been done and after half hr on phone to some1 in india they said they would sort it. but there engineer who is coming to look at my new laptop has said hes not coming until the end of wk as dell told them i have warranty that says at home in 5 working days!

rang dell over and over and they keepm saying theres no record of next day warranty registered to my serive tag and hows its not possible to transfer it from the old laptop,

any1 know where i go from here? pulling my hair out wasting ages on the phone trying to explain things to someone in india! it was the irelenad dept that arranged the replacement etc for me and its pure lukc wether u get transfered to india or ireland and i cant get bk to ireland dept (yet). the india dept told me that i couldnt have spoken to any1 in ireland as they have no dept in ireland

You will have your bill for your original laptop and it will show you paid for the extended warrenty, dell should also have this info available to them. I won't go in to call centers you need to speak to people up the chain of comand not the organ grinders.

Phone them back or try any other numbers you can find for Dell

pulling my hair out, rang warrnty dept but they said its impossible to get a gurantee in jan when i didnt get the laptop until july

In that case the new laptop should come with a full 3 year warranty that you purchased starting from when you received it.

If they don't agree to that then you should be contacting Trading standards as Dell are rewriting the contract because they replaced a faulty item with a new one but supplied you with an inferior product the spec maybe better but part of what you bought was the 3 year NBD warranty they are now saying you don't have the NBD warranty.

I expect them to say you are within your rights to return the laptop and receive a refund as they have not supplied you with what you bought.

They are refusing to send me a receipt either. I have contents insurance and if its stolen or damaged then Im covered but dell are also refusing to send me any receipt or proof of order. If i ever need to claim for it under my insurance then i cant.

I will never go with dell again

Did you not get anything when you bought the laptop in the first place? you should be able to use the dell webiste to get your order history and it will tell you what you ordered, they also email you your order confirmation.

reason its annoying me so much is the replacement laptop doesnt work. hubby tripped and splashed coffee on screen but im 99% sure none went into the laptop. so if when they do the repair and they say there is tea on it then they wont repair it so ill need to claim on my contents insurance so need the receipt. also the mess up with the warranty has delayed them coming out to look at it

on phone again and am told they can not help me again. rangall those numbers u gave me.

The original laptop is what you bought and it was the creating of a conrtact between you and Dell the fact they supplied you with another is part of the warrenty service it is still considered the same contract. the new laptop was their solution to repairing a fault with the original. It is still ocvered under the same warrenty dont take no 5h1t from dell. always trying to brush people aside. get them out to repair the laptop as per your warrenty. If they don't they are in breach of contract.

ohh and dont tell dell about the coffee incident.

im not going to tell them and if they ask ill deny it. but if they refuse to repair it then what am i to do in regards to claiming on my home insurance? as they wont send out a receipt

You dont need a recipt for this laptop you didnt buy it you bought the old one, it is a replacement provided by dell as the old one stoped working it is The same one as far as they know.
You have the recipt for the old one dont you. that is the same one for the new one.
