moving BT lines

we are having an extension built(we cannot afford to move but need an extra bedroom) and as we already have a single-storey extension we are building on top of that. We have our telephone line running across our house where the extension will be which will have to moved but so does two of our neighbours lines run across our property too. We have been told by BT that we wil have to pay to have the three lines moved at a cost of approx £200 each. This does not look fair to me as it is BT who put the lines across my property so is it right that I should pay to have them moved? BT says that the air across our property is not owned by us so they have the right to use it. Does any-one have any suggestions?.

Maybe you should charge them for the use of your property for carrying the cables, say £100 a year per cable that does not serve you.0
