  • FB is like the book My Naughty Little Sister', when its good its really good (being able to contact friend etc) and when its bad its really bad (people saying stuff they wouldn't say face to face and trolling)

A friend recently got into a debate on a FB page that isn't really for her (its for people doing certain jobs) and then posted on her own page to moan. Everyone agreed she shouldn't have ventured on there and I posted to say that as I have got older I have realised that not everyone wants to hear our opinions so sometimes we have to keep it to ourselves. I am lucky that DH shares my opinion on most things so I rant to him rather than starting a FB argument.
  • Thanks ladies, you all have very valid points. The person in question is very anti gay marriage, and I didn't realise quite how much. She'd posted a link to some 'propaganda' for her cause which I knew to be incorrect, so I posted the 'true' info. The watered down version is that apparently I've deceived my boys by telling them that it's ok to accept people for who they are and the 'choices' they make. If by deceiving them I am bringing up two non-judgemental, loving, caring well rounded boys, then I'm happy to deceive them . From now on though I'm ignoring the stuff she puts on FB.

I'm still feeling sniffy/sore throat/sore ears, but don't feel it's 'full blown'. Hopefully it will disappear rather than get worse!

Very dark and gloomy today, but no sign of the hurricane that's causing problems in Ireland yet. Stay safe everyone Xx

How annoying about the relative PLMBL, to me it sounds like you are bringing the boys in a world we now live in which is very accepting (compared to years ago).

We've had a fair bit of wind here today and this strange orange colouring on everything almost like a filter! Apparently due to some sand particles or something I read in the local news.

    xx

  • The sky went a really weird yellow here mummy (though the boys both insist it was green - maybe their school windows are tinted :rotfl:). The sun looked amazingly red too. I have friends in Ireland and they are camping out at home :(. Hope there isn't much damage.

I have a relative like that on FB but I never get into a discussion about it as I know they will never change their mind and are not really interested in tbe actual facts. So I try to ignore, but it is annoying

I hope your sore throat doesn't develop into a cold.

I must admit I'm guilty of putting political stuff on FB but I'm very open to an honest and open discussion. I think sharing things that are propaganda and that aren't always true is different and I always challenge others who post things that are against my values. Unfortunately a lot of people aren't open to changing their minds even when faced with facts.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, hopefully they let her out very soon, its much more comfortable to be in your own home.
