The TfL cap for Zones 1-4 is £9.30 per day (buses, trains & tube).
However, for Zones 1-2 (Central London and out to the likes of Fulham), its £6.50 per day.
https://tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/oyster/using-oyster/price-capping#on-this-page-1
The cap would be less if you're only using buses, but although you can see more, they'll take more time.0 -
So many lovely messages!Book it now before it goes up again!!
I've booked it :j:j.Clear your browsing history first! Then there's a good chance the first price will come back again..
Brilliant idea Robin and I did just that, but alas the price was still £82. I declined breakfast as they wanted £20 extra. We can find something much cheaper than that I'm sure.blackcatsx2 wrote: »Hope it's ok to de-lurk but wanted to encourage you to book the hotel in Putney. It's my neck of the woods so I can confirm it is indeed very close to the underground station. It's the District Line which will take you a few stops to the museums - science, natural history and Victoria and Albert which are all free. Also Putney has a mainline station which will take you quickly to Waterloo if you decide to go on the Eye.
Another great free thing to do is to go to The Sky Garden - it's nearly as tall as The Shard and gives fantastic views of London but is free to get in. Tickets are limited but I noticed that they reserve a number each day for "assistance" places which might be suitable for you. You need to book on line.
Or Kensington Roof Garden is also free and very near the museums - great views of London with flamingoes wandering around for good measure. If its open when you are in London it might be worth a an hour there?
Hope that helps - I love London and there are still some good free things to do.
Of course it's ok for you to delurk! Lovely to 'meet' you! Thanks for such brilliant info XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

I finally got around to booking and received my confirmation yesterday. I've added a few things from the confirmation - mainly the ID requirement:
• You must download your ticket and bring it with you. This can be printed or displayed on your smart phone / tablet. If you are unable to print this ticket or do not have a smart phone, please make a note of your booking reference number instead. If your group is arriving separately, please forward this booking confirmation to other members of your party and ask them to bring the ticket with them.
• Each adult will need provide a form of identification such as a passport, a driving license or a bank card. The name of the lead ticket holder will be checked against the identification provided.
• Children under 16 years old must be supervised by an adult aged 18 years or over (with a maximum of 3 children per adult).
• No smoking is permitted inside any part of the Sky Garden.
• Only food and drink purchased inside the Sky Garden may be consumed in the Sky Garden.
• No animals are permitted in the Sky Garden except for guide dogs / hearing dogs.
• Please make sure that you arrive on time.
• Latecomers will only be permitted with our permission.
Thanks for going to so much trouble JAT. Unfortunately there are no tickets left for while we are there. Hope you enjoy your visit XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thank you Sparky, trix-a-belle, JAT and mummy for the contactless card info. Does that mean we need a card each (DH and I?). I have one but DH never uses a card so it's probably in a drawer somewhere. I can find it if needs be.
SA, I decided we'd regret it too much if we didn't, so it'll have to work out somehow!!
Hope you are enjoying your hols Brizzle XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

DS1 had his initial assessment with orthodontist today. He qualifies for braces and has to go back for the next stage at the end of next month.
I 'only' gained 2lbs after my holiday so I'm quite pleased with that.
Mum, her partner and my Sister have been here for a meal tonight which was lovely. Sis brought her wedding album over for us to ooh and aah at.
Boys are super excited for our trip. We've all been watching Harry Potter to remind DH of the story ahead of the Studio tour (whether he remembers by this time next week is a different story!).Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

PLMBL really pleased to read that you've booked your extra night. Has your DH got a bus pass? I only ask because my S uses his bus pass granted due to not being able to apply for driving licence which he uses when we go to London. I use my Oyster card but his journeys are free.
Climb to the top of the Oxo Tower free of charge & the view is spectacular.

PLMBL, so glad you booked it and I'm sure you will have a fantastic time!0

Yep, one each.
Your children will probably qualify for free travel on theTube, DLR, London Overground and TfL Rail services. Its for those under 11 if travelling with an adult. More details here:

Head to the wider barrier where there should be station staff around and they'll open it for the children.0 -
Lucky I have just returned from London after having spent the last four days there and it was brilliant. My youngest DS came who is 18 and he loved it, we went around all the museums (free) we did pay for the tower of London but didn't mind as the money was going into the upkeep of the tower(well some of it), just popped into the supermarkets for food and took abit with us. Wish I had known about the sky garden but can save that for next time. Sometimes we just sit and people watch.
Go for it if you can.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000
