 Great news on the Pip Lucky! Are you happy with the rate he has been awarded? Still waiting on Missy H's Dla, had a letter to say they were writing to the GP  don't know why when she is under 8 different consultants and I included their latest reports in the evidence!! Have asked the Gp to call before completing the forms as they have never met missy H, we change surgeries when we moved house!

Just swinging by to say warm home grants are open with some companies, a gentle nudge to remind you to apply if you haven't already done so!

  • Evening all, thanks for popping in. Mrs H I am  on your behalf. It just seems such a pointless exercise to disregard Consultant evidence! Hope GP just copies and pastes!! Thanks for the heads up about Warm Homes too. First Util1ty haven't contacted me about it yet so I'll get ahead of the game. We have, however, had a smart meter fitted recently :D.

So today has been a trip into the city centre for Pokem0n hunting at the boys' request! It was good to see them so excited.

Still on the fence about booking an extra night in London next week to tag on to our Windsor trip. Seems such a waste to be so close and not show the boys the sights of the Capital, but it's all extra expense too. Hmmm.

  • Hi all! Mrs H, I realised I didn't answer your question about whether ai'm happy with DH's PiP award. The honest answer is 'sort of'. I'm not going to ask them to reconsider as I've heard horror stories about it being taken away altogether not increased . Money wise he's getting the same as DLA so I'm happy from that perspective.

I have registered interest in this year's Warm Homes Grant which is as much as F1rst Ut1lity are allowing at the moment. Thanks again.

Sparky, I keep changing my mind between an extra night in London (£100+ and spends), or arriving earlier and getting a train to central London from Windsor (£31 family ticket and spends), or just leaving our trip as it is (no extra). DS1 really wants to see the sights of the Capital though and has pointed out it's 'something he'll never forget'. He knows how to work me as memories are super important to me. Still need to buy at least one new school jumper and new shoes for DS1 though and then it's his birthday in 4 weeks. Money money money!!

Today we've been to a Nat Trust place and took MiL's dog as she was out for the day. Took a packed lunch and bought one extra drink for £1.85 while there. Also spent £4 tonight for parkour.

I would go for it to be honest.
They grow up so fast & then all of a sudden they will be at the age when they wont want to go & then they will be grown up.

  • I'm leaning that way Beanie, but worried I'll leave us short. I'll feel happier if I can do something to raise a bit of cash. Think I'll count the penny bottle as a start .....

    I'm with DS1 as well..
Just had a look at The Eye website; they let on a carer gratis if the disabled person turns up with "reasonable written proof of disability" (it does not specify what they consider reasonable! PIP award letter perhaps?).
Pre-booked on-line it looks like you could put together a cracking day out for the family reasonably economically (especially if carer goes free at all the attractions?).
Hotels might be a different matter of course, no idea whether that could render the whole idea unfeasible.

If you do decide to go for it though, do you know anyone who's got a Go-Pro? ..Thinking recording the whole break would be a lovely way of preserving all your memories for DH. :)
