Tesco Current Account incentive

I went to Tesco earlier and got a printout with my receipt offering me 500 clubcard points if I opened up a Tesco Current Account. Phoned up to confirm this as there was no offer code or anything, the representative told me they're offering this to most people at the till now.

You can only get it if you receive a receipt, but if you open two accounts you should get the incentive for both accounts, i.e. 1000 points.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

me too. i have heard reference to much more than that.. and the account isn't particularly appealing in it's own right.

It is 3% AER more appealing than all those current accounts that don't pay any interest. For regular Tesco clubcard users, there are additional perks they might like.

fair enough, but spending using the debit card isn't as appealing as spending on a credit card and generating cashback, and Nationwide and Santander accounts appeal more in terms of interest.
also, TescoBank service has been disappointing ime.

I don't have much reason to call any CS but I spoke to the Tesco current account people a couple of times this year. They answered the phone almost instantly and couldn't have been more knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. I would say it was the best bank CS experience I have had.
