First appeal to PCC

I received a parking charge notice in August, but stupidly left it too late to appeal as I was following old advice to ignore.

Following the advice on the Newbies sticky thread I (as the registered keeper) wrote a letter giving the name of the driver (my mum) so I could reset the clock and be given the chance to appeal.

However, the template of appeal on the Newbies thread refers to the 'registered keeper' writing the letter and says not to admit who was driving.

I was just wondering if there was a different template I should be using in this situation, as my mum was not the registered keeper at the time if the PCN.

I really hope that makes sense, I'm trying to educate myself on all things parking related on this forum but it's all still a minefield!

  • As you've reset the clock, then your mother needs to appeal as the driver. Your responsibility as RK ends.

For your mams appeal just change 'registered keeper' to 'driver' and remove the elements that refer to POFA.

    Which PPC was it?

You've already admitted who was driving so it's not an issue any more. Just change the template so it's from the driver instead of the RK.

  • Thanks, that sounds simple enough! It was Excel Parking.
  • Nowt to worry about there then.

Off to POPLA you'll go, where you'll win.

I can't believe anyone has to ask, TBH, although I know it must look like a minefield to a newbie (it's really simple in fact!). Isn't it obvious to change 'keeper' to driver' and remove anything about 'no keeper liability' and 'I won't be naming the driver'? Hmmmmmffff...why do so many people want templates for everything these days - we even get people asking for a template to write a one-liner email to the BPA!

Little rant over (sorry) but I dislike templates and was only FORCED to write one for the newbies thread because too many people apparently couldn't write a letter to save their life and needed a main sticky thread to read. I wrote it all to stop us regulars suffering Groundhog Day every day! More than once I have considered deleting it completely and advising people to write their own versions again. Gawd it's only the first stage, the driver is already known and the whole point is to get a POPLA code, so Mum could write almost anything at this point.

Just want to add though, good on you for sussing out and taking that brave decision to name to driver to reset the clock, as there was no turning back to this point without taking that big step! It really is easier than you think now.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
