Thermostat temperature offset

My thermostat is in the same room as a woodburning stove so the boiler is shutting off when that room gets hot which leaves the rest of the house too cold. Looking at the manual I see there is an installer option to set a temperature offset of +/- 3 degrees. Maybe I'm being thick but I can't work out which way round I need to set it - do I need it to be -3 or +3?
Thanks

I think that's for calibrating the sensor.

You may as well just crank the main temperature setting up if your not going to more the thermostat to a more sensible location

Thanks but the manual does say If the Programmable Thermostat is located in a particularly hot/cold location and cannot be moved because of wiring then the measured/displayed
temperature can be adjusted by +/- 3°CMaybe just need to try it one way tonight and see what happens.

    Two options:

    1. buy a wireless thermostat.

    2. Just crank up the thermostat setting by 3 degrees

    My solution:

I have gone for zoning. 'Google' Evohome or Heat Genius.

Move the thermostat to somewhere which is more representative of the temperature otherwise you'd have to be winding it up or down depending on whether the woodstove was in use or not.

The woodburner can increase the room temperature up to 25 degrees or more, so to keep the heating on in the other rooms would require you to set the stat to at least 25 degrees which would then overheat the whole of the house if the wood burner wasn't operating.

The stat should be in a room which is only being heated by the heating system. The radiator in that room should not have a thermostatic valve or it should be fully open to prevent the two controls conflicting with each other.

The thermostatic rad valve in the room with the woodstove should then operate as designed and shut the rad off when the stove is operating and the room is up to temperature or heat the room when the stove is not in use.
