You are right, you cannot have 20 TSB Plus accounts, not even between two people. Nor would you need so many. For a long time, between two people you could have had £12,000 in TSB (6 accounts), all earning 5% rather than just the 3% it earns in a 123.You might find this impractical. I on the other hand did not put a penny into a 123 until I had exhausted not only my TSB and Lloyds limits but also the 4 and 6% regular savings accounts. I don't consider it impractical to do so. So you see, different people have different needs and views, and I am glad that I didn't just rely on what the MSE article proposes.0 -
If you look on the best bank accounts article, you'll see the TSB account is listed if you scroll right down, but doesn't have an MSE affiliate link, so that may be part of the reason why Martin is reluctant to talk about it.
The thing is the article I saw originally wasn't the best bank account but best savings account and the TSB is actually far better than any savings account mentioned in the article.
Surely if it is the account that pays the best it is worth being listed so readers are aware of it. I'm sure when you have £70 million in the bank getting 5% interest on £2000 isn't relevant but for those with the average amount of savings it is way above any ISA or savings account.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
