My BT Line Rental is due for renewal at the end of November. I understand their prices have risen quite substantially. I noticed the Post Office were offering line rental at only £120.
My question is, and it might sound dumb(?) but do I have to stick with BT for the line rental?
I wish to remain with BT for the broadband infinity package. I do not possess a landline phone and haven't done so for the last 10 years so call packages are of no interest to me.
Does it matter who you pay the line rental to? I just want the cheapest line rental going.
My mum's broadband is with Virgin and she is able to pay the Post Office for her line rental!
Can anyone shed any light?!0 -

NO
But its unclear if BT will supply fibre without a BT line rental .
Use the BT help agent to ask .0 -

The answer in #4 above doesn't take into account your wishes and is therefore wrong.
Yes you must stick with BT line rental (to keep their infinity BB)0 -
BT to my knowledge have never offered Broadband in any shape or form as a stand alone product.
If you move your phone line they will terminate your Fibre Broadband.
Some other suppliers do allow you to have phone line with one and broadband with another. This usually works out dearer,as it tends to be cheaper to have them bundled together.0 -
And virgin allow you to just have broadband without a phone line, however when you work it out, it isn't any cheaper!0

.
BT have always offered standalone adsl and fibre broadband it's just not promoted so you wont see it on the website.
The standalone products are more expensive than the bundle products so if you take away the line rental the broadband price will increase.
BT would only terminate the broadband connection if you took your line rental to an LLU supplier as it's not possible to have BT broadband on an LLU line.
If you move to a WLR line the broadband remains with BT (at a higher rate) and the line and calls are billed by another provider.0
