Today I have recieved my bank charges back, except instead of £571 they have put £2772.50 into my account.
If I take the money, how long do the bank have to ask for it back before it is legally mine.
Cheers Maverick

Until the end of time.
If you spend it you and cannot repay it on demand then you will be liable to any overdraft they apply and/or prosecution for theft.0 -
It has been suggested on this site that you could transfer the extra money to a savings account and when the bank request their excess money be returned to them you comply but in the meantime you keep any interest earned meantime.0

Surely the logical thing to do is write a polite letter thanking thanking them for their assistance in the matter of your charges and pointing out that the money was deposited into your account and can they clarify the payments made.Signaller, author, father, carer.0
