Lets be honest, your doctor wasn't advising you to drink at all. The advice was that if you can't resist, go for a drink with a lower carbohydrate load as diabetic neuropathy beckons. So do yourself a favour and stop drinking full stop, your bank balance will certainly be better off.
I too was a bit caught by the minimum spend for points voucher - but I was happy with my purchase price for the Drambuie and port I bought so the points would have been no more than a bonus.
. My Doctors a bigger drinker than me . I usually consume no more than 15 units a week. Alcohol is nt a problem , nor is saving money as I m pretty well off. For my age I m as fit as a fiddle, got a job where I walk the streets all day every day over 15 miles a day on average. I m 6 ft, 10 stones, non smoking, perfect blood pressure. My own Doc says I m their star diabetic with a perfect diet anyway, a little tipple now and then isnt doing me any harm.. I m just interested why on earth Sainsburys have singled out the strong stuff to stop promotions on and leaving wine/beer off the list Thanks for the advice but no thanks. Now you do me a favour and get on the laptop and email Sainsburys and complain about picking on Spirits/ Liqueurs for no good reason. I ve been in today and the staff are still saying they had no option to stop points on spirits as its a government law. Thats what I object to..passing the buck and blaming the law when its their own policy to go "over and above " what the law required

You have to remember Sainsbury's political roots and affiliations. Nannying is part of the package.
