O/S Daily Thursday 6th November 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, looks to be dry and cold, and a frost.
DH gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was chicken in hoisin sauce, prawns in black bean, chow mein and egg fried rice, clean plates all round and enjoyed by us all. Not sure about tonight, but have an online shop being delivered this afternoon so will have a good stock to choose from.
I have a hospital appointment first thing, so hoping it’s going to be the news I want, so need to get back to normal routine, have had enough of being immobile and not being able to get on with what needs doing. At least if they take the plaster off and then say take it steady for another 2 weeks then you can go back to work, I’d be more than happy with that.
Yesterday did a menu plan for this next week, so feel reasonably well organised.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Hope your hospital visit goes well nmlc, it can be so frustrating.
No plans for today. :j No food plans either. :j Not very MSE but a day off will be fine I think. I love waking up in winter - bed is all cosy and warm and one foot out from under the duvet tells me it's cold today.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning all
Hubby's back at work today which is good as he's going stir crazy, he's on lates, so I'll have a snooze when I finish work & then collect him later. I have porridge for breakfast, he has a cuppa as he isn't up yet, the fish have had their breakfast.
We went out for a carvery last night, it was the anniversary of when we met, so 14 years ago, he also bought me some flowers.
The test results are back at the Dr's so I have to make an appointment to hear the outcome.
It's time I set off for work.
Have a good day everyone

Morning :hello:
Bit peed off. I was put on the spot regarding this job (long story, won't bore you with the details). I said I'd never work for family or friends again and I won't work in sales because I'm rubbish at it. I'm working for mr tru's friends, doing admin. Except most of the stuff I was supposed to be involved in is changing eg they're changing their bill paying to DD soon. I've done no admin at all, I'm in the shop on my own which means I have to sell to people - which I'm not good at (how many times do I have to say this?), I told them this when I spoke to them about the job in the first place. WHY WHY WHY am I there? I hate it.
Moan over
Hope all pets were OK last night? My chickens were fine, once they're on their perches in the dark shed they're oblivious to everything. But Harry Gecko in master tru's room was getting stressed (he's usually light green but gets darker when he's not happy). I brought him downstairs and put him in a plant pot, he climbed the plant and hid in the leaves. A short while later he'd lightened up again. No doubt there will be more fireworks at the weekend.
LameWolf Can you make both of those snakes, hands permitting? I think they'll look great. Don't forget to stuff as you go, it's pretty much impossible to stuff afterwardsFab tip about cheap duvets donny-gal, thanks

Hester How are OH's toes? I assume he's doing well as he's gone back to work
Found out yesterdaythat I'm not working today so I ignored the chicken shed yesterday afternoon and will get it sorted this morning. I have a couple of loads of washing to do and will run the hoover round. I fancy crocheting something new, I have brain-drain at the moment so it'll have to be something easy. Snowballs, maybe

Good morning everyone
Brrrrr, it's a bit chilly today. I am going to get my big wooly jumper on as soon as I've finished writing this. Hubby has broken out his beanie as he is follically challenged and he found it rather chilly waiting for the bus in the mornings. Still haven't put the heating on yet but it won't be long. I'm not going to be a martyr about it and as soon as I see my own breath in the morning the radiators are going on!
I have an online shop arriving this morning so I will quickly clean out the fridge before it comes. We are having burgers for tea and I'm pretty sure we have some relish hidden away at the back of the fridge. I've had to order more milk as my girls drink loads of it but I don't mind as I'd rather they had healthy bones than not. I am still buying full fat for them as I read it was very good for them and let's be honest, it tastes so much better too. I have semi skimmed for my cups of tea though to try and cut down a bit. I always had skimmed before but I would pinch the girls milk for cereal as skimmed is a bit grim on cornflakes I think.
I hope everyone is having a good morning so far and is not too chilly. Seven weeks today till Christmas :rudolf:. Take care xxxx0 -
Morning All
Hope you all enjoyed the fireworks, they were going from about 5pm to after 11 around here. I didn't see many, had the blinds and curtains closed as it was so cold.
Freezing yesterday and last night but wet and windy here this morning - never 2 days the same here.
HH - Hope OHs toes are well enough to go into work. Happy Anniversary of Meeting for yesterday.
tru - what a shame the job isn't what you thought. It's early enough to tell them, see what they say.
Washing up to date but on the airers, need to do some housework tonight as I am going to Chester for the weekend to see family and go to my Cousin's 50th birthday party. Not happy as she hasn't invited her mum. I told her I wasn't happy and she snapped at me saying my critisism wasn't justified! Could be a bit frosty between us but she will be too involved in impressing her friends anyway. Not sure why I'm going really!
peony - I am a Learning Assistant and we were planting to make the school look better, especially as we had a visit from the eco flag lady - she gave us our 5th green flag!
Anyway, have a good day, hope all's well. Take care. XX0 -
Fairly ok night for the doggies. Poppy was in a state but DS2 (her favourite and whose bed she sleeps under) bought her downstairs and she settled well! Think there will be more on Saturday though:( How did other pets manage? Was thinking of Docky and RR's Little Dog x
Really busy day today - horrid horrid hospital appointment today.
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Brrr very cold here this morning, heating went on yesterday, for poorly dog and elderly mother, it was lovely coming home to it all warm and cosy, so it will be staying on now unless we get a warmer spell.
I am off to work today dd is sitting with LD and will be doing her uni assignments whilst here.
Something with chips for dinner possibly kievs and peas. Have my shopping being delivered and I will need to do a wash.
Have good days all and hugs from Little dog to everyone ! xx0 -
Hi everyone,
It's my last day at work and I'll only be there for 3 hours. It's confirmed what I already knew, I don't miss the world of work at all and will happily retreat home once this stint is over. For all those who ask me if I get bored at home the answer is an emphatic no, but I do get bored at work. Mind you I am doing a lot of Health and Safety work so that's probably why.
OS has necessarily taken a back seat this week but I've managed a bit of sewing and all the meals have been made from scratch so that's enough. I've found a recipe for a baked sweet and sour chicken which is totally delicious, although not for those trying to be sugar free!
DD is enjoying Sri Lanka and DS has been ill but is getting better. DH and I are going up to Yorkshire tonight, I can't wait, for one reason and another we've not been for a month.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
I'm planning to visit my Mom in half an hour or so in the residential home. On route I need to pop into my Gp's practise. My Med Ex is due to expire at the end of the month and I need to get a form signed by my GP as proof that I am still entitled to free prescriptions.
Its cold, its wet. I haven't done anything in the house other than the kitchen floor but I'm sure it can wait.
Thinking of little dog, hoping she is ok.
Lasagne for tea tonight. Not a maybe but a definite.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
