ESTA Transit mistake?

Think I may have made an error on my ESTA application but I'm sure someone on here will know...

Am going to New York for 5 days before flying to on to Cancun. So I said yes to the in transit question...but I guess that is probably incorrect? Or will it be OK?

ESTAs are good for multiple trips within the two years, so you should be able to go online and change this.

There is an optional section for "address of where you will spend your first night in the US". Put the address of your accommodation in there.

While I'm sure they meant transiting immediately, ticking yes was technically correct in your scenario.

I don't think you even need to go online and change it - you either get granted the ESTA or you don't, there's no special transit ESTA. You don't need to put address details in either. Once you have the ESTA you are free to get on a plane to the US any day you want between now and the next 2 years and for any length of time (under 90 days) without informing them beforehand.
